The company’s social responsibility is a way of life for the Company’s business. The company’s social responsibility activities are social capital investments, which functions as the basis for the development of sustainable partnerships between the company and its stakeholders, towards sustainable business for sustainable development. Through its CSR function, the Company involves the community in managing negative impacts in a participatory and consultative manner, as well as organizing various empowerment programs to improve health and economic opportunities, especially for youth groups, vulnerable groups, and underprivileged families.
In September 2015, 193 states as a member of the United Nations have agreed to adopt a new agenda for sustainable development. The SDGs represent an interconnected and holistic framework of the most pressing challenges encountered by the community and which require urgent action to ensure a sustainable future.Therefore, DSN Group has a role in supporting all 17 SDGs. Without putting anything else aside, we have chosen to focus our efforts more on the goals to make the most strategic and impactful contribution. We have identified 8 SDGs that are in line with our strengths and areas of impact as a company. The 8 SDGs also represent the greatest opportunity to establish partnerships with other parties to drive progress towards sustainable development.

SDG 2. Zero Hunger

Contribution of DSN Group includes:
- Plays a role in empowering and improving the welfare of more than 4,000 families, and over 140 agents and farmer cooperatives supplying fresh fruit bunches (FFB).
- Provides training and facilitates agricultural demonstration plots, fruit orchards, and seed sources (rice, superior bananas, vegetables, and fish) for communities surrounding plantations and mills.
- Plays a role in providing/maintaining essential facilities and infrastructure that help improve rural incomes and general welfare.
SDG 3. Good Health & Well-Being

Contribution of DSN Group includes:
- Periodic health checks (MCU) for all plantation and palm oil mill employees, including SKU.
- Regular monthly doctor and nurse visits to villages surrounding the plantations.
- Free outpatient and inpatient treatment at the DSN Group Clinic for communities surrounding the plantations, as well as ambulance rentals, counseling, mask distribution, etc.
- Stunting Prevention through Supplemental Food and Vitamin A.
SDG 4. Quality Education

Contribution of DSN Group includes:
- Construction of school buildings, assistance with school operational costs, teacher development, and school facilities.
- Subsidies for honorariums for school teachers in the surrounding areas.
- Supporting the Elementary School Olympiad to create a fun, conducive, and more competitive learning environment.
- Providing school buses and transportation for school children.
- Establishing and facilitating “Learning Houses” in villages surrounding the gardens.
SDG 5. Gender Equality

Contribution of DSN Group includes:
- Implementation of gender assessments in collaboration with independent institutions.
- Gender Committee training involving 356 members on gender equality, violence prevention, and its response.
- Provision of childcare facilities for employees working in operational environments.
SDG 6. Clean Water & Sanitation

Contribution of DSN Group includes:
- Providing clean water for employees.
- Periodic river water testing and maintaining riverbanks to prevent pesticide application.
- Assistance in building clean water installations (WTP & household sewers) for the community.
- Implementing boiler recycled water optimization at the WP Panel.
SDG 7. Affordable & Clean Energy

Contribution of DSN Group includes:
- The use of shells and fibers for fuel as a diesel substitute.
- Installation of solar panels at WP Panel and Grha DSN.
- Operation of Bio-CNG and Biogas facilities to support operational energy needs.
- Utilization of renewable energy to partially replace fossil fuel use.
- Contribution of POME utilization to greenhouse gas emission reductions.
- Transition of Bio-CNG fueled vehicles.
- Replacing fossil fuel-based operational equipment, such as forklifts, with electric power.
SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth

Contribution of DSN Group includes:
- Employing approximately 11,000 workers in plantations and palm oil mills. Over 40% are local workers.
- Providing transportation units (light vehicles, trucks, and school buses) for plantation and palm oil mill operations from the community.
- Facilitating the establishment of credit institutions and cooperatives for smallholder oil palm plantations.
SDG 12. Responsible Consumption And Production

Contribution of DSN Group includes:
- Implementation of hazardous and hazardous waste management, organic (composting), and inorganic (waste sorting), reducing inorganic waste accumulation in landfills.
- Implementation of the NDPE policy through outreach reaching 50% of IPC suppliers, 50% of Self-Help Cooperatives, and 25% of Agents.
- Plantation traceability across all mills reached 97.76%.
- Palm kernel supply traceability reached 100% traceability to the mill and 99.48% traceability to supplier plantations.
- Supplier capacity building through field schools for 8,562 farmers.
- Traceability of wood and wood product supplies from the Wood Products & Renewable Energy Business Unit has achieved 100% traceability down to the supplier level.
