Fire Prevention

Besides monitoring the conservation areas, DSN Group also actively conducts prevention and control of forest and land fires which generally consist of prevention, firefighting, and post-fire handling.

Prevention:

  • The Forest and Land Fire Prevention Work Plan is developed based on fire risk maps, serving as a reference for identifying priority areas and determining preventive measures.
  • Emergency Response Preparedness Teams (TKTD) have been established across all operational units as part of operational readiness and early fire response, ensuring the availability of trained personnel.
  • The Company ensures full readiness of fire-fighting facilities and infrastructure in accordance with Ministry of Agriculture Regulation No. 6 of 2025, achieving 100% compliance. Fire-fighting equipment includes portable pumps, backpack pumps, high-pressure pumps, and other personal protective equipment. 
  • Hotspot monitoring is conducted through satellite-based systems, including SIPONGI of the Ministry of Forestry and NASA’s MODAPS, covering areas within a 1-km radius outside the concession boundaries.
  • Routine patrols, training sessions, and fire emergency response simulations are conducted twice a year to enhance preparedness and rapid response capabilities. These efforts are further strengthened through the establishment of Emergency Response Preparedness Teams (TKTD) and Fire-Aware Farmer Groups (Kelompok Tani Peduli Api/KTPA).
  • The Company collaborates with suppliers to enforce a zero-burning policy throughout the supply chain.
  • In addition, DSNG cooperates with Manggala Agni to strengthen fire preparedness through emergency readiness roll calls, outreach and awareness activities, Karhutla certification programs involving 400 participants, and inspections of fire-fighting equipment.

Fire Suppression: Rapid response is undertaken for any detected fire incidents, including immediate fire-fighting actions and timely reporting to relevant authorities, such as village heads, sub-district leadership forums, and related government agencies.

Post-Fire Management: Post-fire management includes an evaluation of the sources and causes of fire incidents, followed by improvements to procedures and infrastructure as part of continuous fire prevention efforts, as well as the rehabilitation of affected areas.
