KEEPING CHILDREN HEALTHY: SDU BROUGHT DOCTOR INTO MORNING GREETINGS
By Yulius Maran - Principal YDSNU
Paying attention to children’s health is an integral part of education at Dharma Utama School (SDU). On Tuesday (September 1, 2026) at 7:00 a.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA), following a brief flag ceremony, hundreds of elementary and junior high school students of Dharma Utama School gathered for their morning greetings, which this time focused on health and changing weather conditions.
Before the main session began, Yulius Maran, Principal of YDSNU, greeted the students and delivered a brief introduction on the importance of maintaining good health as part of being prepared to learn. “School is not only about what we learn in the classroom, but also about how we take care of ourselves so that we stay healthy and ready to learn,” he emphasized in his opening remarks.
The session continued with dr. Juni from Klinik Pratama, who provided health education on hot weather, prolonged dry conditions, drought, and increasing levels of dust that children need to be aware of. The students were encouraged to understand that changing environmental conditions can have a direct impact on their health and daily activities.

One of the terms discussed during the session was “El Niño Godzilla,” a popular term used to describe an El Niño event of exceptionally strong intensity. Scientifically, however, the term is not an official classification used by BMKG. Therefore, the education provided to the students focused not merely on the terminology, but rather on understanding the impacts of weather conditions and developing healthy habits.
In front of the students, dr. Juni highlighted several simple steps they can take to protect their health: drinking enough water, wearing masks when engaging in activities in dusty conditions, protecting themselves from excessive heat exposure, maintaining personal hygiene, and paying attention to their physical condition. These may be simple messages, but they are highly relevant to children who spend their days actively learning and playing within the school environment.
The activity also demonstrated how education within the DSN Group environment can extend beyond the classroom. The participation of a doctor from Klinik Pratama in the school activity reflects cross-functional collaboration within the DSN Group ecosystem—where caring for children goes beyond academic development to include their health, safety, character, and readiness to grow.
Commitment to children’s education has long been part of SDU’s journey. Dharma Utama School was developed by YDSNU as an educational institution for the children of DSN Group staff and employees living around the company’s operational areas, with the aim of providing access to quality education.
Ultimately, the morning gathering delivered a simple yet important message: healthy children are better prepared to learn, and children who are ready to learn have greater opportunities to grow. From the school grounds, the session concluded with a simple but powerful reminder: take care of yourself, take care of your health, stay healthy, and keep learning with enthusiasm.
