Being a Mother, a Professional, and an Empowered Woman

By Pia Alfia - CSR and Gender Comittee East Kalimantan

My name and most people call me Pia. I am one of many women working at DSN Group East Kalimantan area. Like countless other working women, I live two roles at once: as a loving mother at home and as a dedicated professional in the workplace.

My mornings begin much like those of many other mothers — preparing breakfast and packed lunches for my children, making sure their school uniforms are neat, and giving them a warm hug before they leave for school. Once that part of the day is done, I transition from being a mother at home into a professional at work.

Advocation for the Protection of Women and Children

In my role, together with my team, I actively raise awareness about Women and Child Protection. We run a variety of programmes, including campaigns to prevent violence against children, to prevent domestic violence (DV), to support adolescent mental health, as well as broader community empowerment initiatives.

Our work does not stop at designing programmes; we go into the field, listen to people, and extend support with open hands. For me, this is not just a job — it is a calling to help create safe spaces for women and children.

Women Empowering Women

As part of the Gender Committee, I often encourage women to recognise themselves as a source of positive strength. I believe every woman can grow, progress, and make a meaningful impact not only on her own life but also on her family and the wider community.

I hold a firm belief that when more women feel confident and content with their life choices, it fosters an environment where all women can thrive.

An empowered woman can also empower others. Even stay-at-home mothers are empowered in their own right — they manage the household, raise children, support their partners, and often contribute to their communities.

The support we offer one another as women is powerful. By uplifting each other, we can move further together.

Family: My Greatest Source of Strength

Balancing the dual roles of being both a mother and a leader is certainly not easy. There are moments when I feel drained — physically and mentally. Yet, behind all the strength I try to show, my family is always there. Their constant support gives me the energy to keep going, even when challenges seem overwhelming.

A Conviction that Inspires

I truly believe that when women are given space, they can create extraordinary change. What I do may appear small, but I know many other remarkable women at PT DSN Group share the same spirit.

Together, we continue to learn how to be independent, resilient, and purposeful. With sincerity at heart, we strive to make our environment better — for women, for children, for families, and for the community at large.

Because I believe that when a woman is empowered, the goodness she carries will flow outwards, creating a ripple of positive change for many others. 🌸
