The Ambassador of Germany to Indonesia Visited DSNG’s Palm Oil Mill

EAST KUTAI, May 30, 2023 – PT Dharma Satya Nusantara Tbk (“the Company” or “DSNG”) received a visit from the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Indonesia, H.E. Ina Lepel, as part of her visit to East Kalimantan on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

As part of her efforts to observe the partners and beneficiaries of the Sustainable and Climate Friendly Palm Oil Production and Procurement (SCPOPP) project, which is implemented by Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with funding from the German Government’s International Climate Initiative, Her Excellency visited DSNG’s palm oil mill and Bio-CNG Plant Facilities in Muara Wahau, East Kutai, East Kalimantan.
Before visiting the DSNG’s palm oil mill, in the morning the Ambassador H.E. Ina Lepel also witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between DSNG, the East Kutai Regency Plantation Department, and 6 community-owned plantation cooperatives.

During the brief visit, the Ambassador was accompanied by GIZ Indonesia. Together with senior management from DSNG, they discussed topics related to empowering smallholder farmers and the utilization of POM liquid waste as renewable energy implemented by the Company.

Through the partnership agreement with GIZ, which concluded on March 31, 2023, DSNG has actively supported the capacity development of farmers belonging to six cooperatives in Wahau and Kombeng, East Kutai. These cooperatives include Koperasi Usaha Tani Sejahtera, Karya Indah, Sumber Rejeki, Kel’ean Blom Kejah, and Sawit Usaha Tani Sejahtera (SUTS), as part of the 9 cooperatives involved in the SCPOPP Program.

“Through this partnership, we have seen a positive development in how all stakeholders working together to address the current global challenge of climate change and biodiversity loss. Both communities and companies like DSNG have contributed to tackling these challenges through the implementation of sustainable agricultural practices, both internally and by supporting smallholder farmers,” explained Denys Collin Munang, Chief Sustainability Officer DSNG.
